Skin and bones...

Earlier this week, the Miss Universe Australia pageant was held. Now, based on my principles, I hate these beauty pageants. I don't care whether they say it's about brains and that the girls engage in charity work...it's just a bunch of skinny bimbos strutting their stuff. (Okay, I'll admit I'm being very harsh...I do think that Sushmita Sen has brains)

This year's show made headlines because one of the contestants was very skinny. Surprise, surprise.

Now, what's even more surprising is that she claims she eats 6 to 8 meals a day. (Yeah, right!!)

There was also another claim that because of her heritage which is Macedonian, she is built that way. I work with someone from the same background and while she is healthy, I cannot see any bones like on this chick.

It's high time beauty pageants banned super-skinny models. This lady here is 180 cm tall and 49 kgs. That's grossly underweight. And yes, that's anorexic. All it teaches young kids and teens is that this is the way to be. This is the way to get noticed. To get famous.

And then we are surprised why there are 6 year olds suffering from eating disorders.

What else do you expect with role models such as these...

On another note --- don't you just feel like shoving food into her mouth??? Like a big juicy burger? I certainly do.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

  1. She's on the path to become anorexic I guess

  2. Psych,
I had written in a newspaper about a Miss India contestant I met in a train. Shall post the story some time.
But her structure, gaze, body or 'beauty' was inversely proportional to her wisdom. I was with my extended family. The men were gaga... lots of sexual interplay here (psychological). And the women in the family were jealous, envious or simply glad for various reasons.

    She was not skinny though.

  4. She is scary looking!
Even if we let the contests be purely superficial, just beauty no brain things, she should not be in there based on how she looks.

  5. @ Ms R: This pic I reckon is airbrushed. When they showed her on TV, you could count her ribs...I guess she's already there!

@ Kartikey: Lol...so I wasn't being too harsh with the lacks of brains bit! Can't wait to read your take on that...

@ Solilo: Yeah, I know there are some of those people that can eat heaps but still remain skinny...I knew one of those girls...but, having said that, they still look healthy. This chick doesn't look remotely healthy to me which says she can't be eating 6-8 meals.

@ TnD: Agree with you. There should be restrictions placed based on BMI. Anyone below the acceptable level should not be allowed.

  7. I'm going out on a limb hear, hope not to offend, but I say let's me careful about reverse discrimination. Anorexia will never admit to starving themselves, they are a lot like drug addicts. But if they have a eating disorder I look at that as a sickness that they need treatment.

On the other hand I've had plenty of friends that ate a lot, but where just thin. It was hard on them because a lot of guys were not attracted to them and they felt as helpless as people who don't eat that much but are overweight. If someone thinks someone is beautiful I can't really get mad at that.

I am overweight and can't relate to a skinny girl. I have been made fun of by friends and strangers alike, I would never want someone else to feel bad about themselves.

Sorry if I'm being too serious, I have a bad habit of that.
