Buzz off...

This can't be for real, can it?

I admire PETA and all it does for animal rights. I love animals myself.

But having a go at Obama for swatting a fly?! Give me a break!

What next? We can't squish redbacks or huntsmen or a funnel web spider?

I refuse to be sympathetic towards spiders, cockroaches, flies, and other creepy crawlies because I don't see them as 'animals'. They are insects and pests! (A funny coincidence is that my flatmate and I have a fly infestation in our place and are trying to figure out how. We've killed about 10 in the last couple of days)

With this, PETA may not be taken seriously for all the other rights they do make a great point for.

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

  2. Oh I agree. I guess sometimes people just go on a overkill in the name of rights!

  3. That is so ridiculous isnt it. They lose total credibility and following being so pathetic like that. He was trying to whoosh the fly away not kill it.

Hey I am so pleased you are seeing your family again soon. How exciting after so long. Wow makes me get goose bumps - cant imagine how it must feel for you! Are you going there or are they coming to you?

  4. @ Ersa: I know! I found that ridiculously hilarious too!! So apparently, none of us is perfect. Shock horror!!!

@ Smita: Yep...in terms of rights and political correctness we can sometimes go a bit too far!

@ Lilly: I know...and we know how annoying flies can be here in the summer. Geez...PETA is probably going to have a problem with all Aussies! :p I'm going back to Bombay for 3 weeks. I'm in the process of preparing myself for a reverse culture shock now! 4 years in Aus has spoilt me in terms of cleanliness and having heaps of space. Sigh. At the moment, I'm partly nervous and partly excited.

  5. Um that's ridiculous. It's a damn fly. And flies in my opinion are meant to be swatted away. I get so frustrated when I visit India sometimes, cause it's like mosquito central, that my Mom & I have one of those electric fly swatters (you know the ones that are shaped like badminton raquets? lol) and I go around trying to zap them. Lol, I guess I'm highly imperfect then. :P

  7. @ Archana: Hehe...we all are! If you live in Australia you will find that there is a fly invasion in summer. What does PETA expect us to do?

@ Pesto: For PETA you mean? Because it's a bad one then...they lose credibility complaining about stuff like this.

    @ Reema: Hehe...now you do! :)

  8. Aww, well I disagree. They are still a life. Just coz they are insects doesnt mean they arent as worthy as living when compared to a lion??

No siree, not for me. I agree that sometimes it happens, you squat flies and Im not going to make a hoo-haa about it. I used to do it as a kid, but I dont think i can do it anymore.
