Weekend so far...

After a hectic week at work on all fronts, I had a nice night out having dinner with friends on Friday. Went to a Thai restaurant which was extremely noisy though and we literally had to shout across the table to be heard. It was good to catch up and was a kind of me going away for a bit dinner.

Worked yesterday --- my client cancelled but still had to meet with another set of parents for feedback on an assessment.

Bought me a TV yesterday. Been thinking of getting one and since the sales are on, went for it. Figured that I will eventually be moving from my friend/flatmate's place and will need one of my own. An interesting experience by the way was having an Indian salesperson being dismissive. I asked him a question about the TV and he just gave a quick answer and headed elsewhere...I saw him attend to an elderly couple and a single bloke while all the time I was waiting in front of the TV I wanted to buy (I'm seriously starting to think that some Indian men are brought up with not giving a single woman respect. If she's with her husband, then they will come and talk to you nicely. It's not the first time this has happened). Anyway, had a nice Aussie bloke come up to me and help me with the purchase and even carried the TV to my car. (Chivalry is not dead yet...)

Have done some shopping for family and friends in Bombay.

And today, Sunday, I'm just going to work on some reports I need to finish and will have to my bit of the chores...

So that's my weekend. Nothing flash. But still enjoyable.

How was yours?

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

  2. Hmmm that sounds like a peaceful weekend!!!

As far as the behavior of Men is concerned less said the better. When we stand in line for a bus which ferries us to our office, there have been men who have literally pushed us behind to stand first. We do not expect them to give us their seat or position but the least we expect from them is tameez and they lack there!!!

My sunday has been good, it finally rained and that canceled my plans to wear sari 2moro :(

  4. Tv at last. yay to that. I know what you mean about Indian men though. For example, this happens to me all the time - We go to say Maccas or Nando's and I'm the one in line standing at the counter while my bf is somewhere in the background or next to me. They will look at him and ask him how can I help you? as though I'm not even there. I know it sounds trivial but this has never happened to me if I'm not being served by an Indian. And because my bf knows how much it annoys me, every time it happens he tells them "You can help yourself by asking the lady in line". And then they look at me with contempt as if I shouldn't be allowed to make up my own mind about the food I want to eat. Grrr...

  6. @ Reema: Ouch...yeah last weekend of the vacation is never the best! :) Hope work is good!

@ Smita: Oh, don't even get me started on men's behaviour on public transport back in Bombay!!! Re the sari...maybe you can be extra-daring! ;)

@ CaptJohann: Welcome to my blog! Yes I did...but it's not a huge TV because I couldn't afford the larger screens!

@ LegallyAlien: It doesn't sound trivial and yeah, I agree it hasn't happened to me either unless it's an Indian male. In fact, a male friend and I went to an Indian restaurant for dinner some weeks ago and they had to make the naan fresh and bring it to our table (It's more of the take-away style place). Anyway, when the guy brought the naan, he looked at my friend and gave it and didn't even bother to look at me or acknowledge me! Drove me nuts!!!

    @ Ersa: Unfortunately, not very big...decent size...but all I could afford! :P
