Rockin' Weekend

This weekend was a busy and fun-filled one for me. For starters, I went for the Linkin Park Concert at Acer Arena on Saturday night. And as expected, they were amazing and blew me away! They never fail to deliver. Their concerts are filled with great technological gimmicks along with their musical capability. I love Chester Bennington and have no idea how he manages to maintain his vocal chords! I'm in awe. He manages to scream and rock hard and yet, at the same time, mellows down and gives us fantastic acoustic versions.

At the end of the concert, I nursed a sore throat (as a result of all the screaming and singing), sore hands (from the clapping and the 'rocking'), sore feet (from the rocking) and of course, a compromised sense of hearing.

But it was soooooooooo worth it!

Here are just a handful of the pictures... (click to enlarge)

So yes. Now, I am waiting for the next time they tour.

Also, yesterday, my flatmate left for her home country for 4 weeks. Which means, I have the place all to myself! Yay! She's not a bad flatmate but I do love having my own space. And then today, I had a Christmas picnic with my friends where we exchanged gifts and just had a great and relaxing arvo.

I can't believe it's back to work tomorrow. So not looking forward to it after a rocking concert and a relaxing Sunday. All that was missing was a trip to the beach. =)

Hope you all had a good weekend...

Until next time,

Cheers!!!

  8. I must admit I was not too fond of their recent album though I loved Minutes to Midnight as much as Hybrid Theory and Meteora. However, when they played some of their new stuff live, it was sooooo good...and now, I think I like some more songs from this album. :) Other bands I like --- Green Day, The Living End, Jet, Powderfinger, Matchbox 20...

  9. Yeah, it was and I've been lucky to see them twice so far. Bryan Adams...ah...loved him but never got to see him play live. That would be nice! =)

  10. Yeah, its one of those things musicians do .... once they are successful,
they experiment and try different things to avoid critics and fans categorizing them into a genre ...the thing is only a handful of bands have done it well so far...one slip and the very same critics will start saying "oh they should have stuck with what they are good at" ...funny thing ...the way art is perceived....

Hey matchbox 20 is pretty good ....I like Rob Thomas's song writing ..
Do you like any of the 70s or 80s bands ?

  11. Good to know you had a great weekend and ya work after a fun filled weekend seem so difficult to bear but then weekends are important only because we are so busy on weekdays :)

  12. Yep, it is funny how that works...I think U2 were quite successful in adapting their style although again, I like their older stuff better. 70s and 80s...to be honest, not very familiar with most of them...I like Bryan Adams, some Aussie bands like Cold Chisel, the Hoodoo Gurus...

  14. Hmmm....but when you think about it ...U2 have not changed their sound much .... I mean in comparison with what LP has done ....the new album is really different from Hybrid theory and Meteora ..... But if you heard the Josua tree and How to dismantle and atom bomb back to back you really would not find a difference ....they use the same tricks you know ....the edge with his compressed and delayed guitar sound, and Bono's crooning ...its pretty much the same ...

Check out these two records if you get time .... Led zepplin I and Led zepplin III .... you'll see what I mean .... and they are a 70s band :)

  15. Hmm...I guess U2 haven't changed as drastically as LP but they still seemed to be moving with the times so to speak. Will check out Led Zepplin...I've probably heard them on the radio but just haven't know it's them...
