Blogging: Looking back at it all

Scribby tagged me with a blogging tag that seems so very appropriate to do in the new year.

What this tag is about:
To unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavour to share lessons learnt and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again.

And so it goes on!

So now, I look back on my 4 years of blogging and sift through the posts:

1. Most beautiful post: I'm supposed to choose one beautiful post. Damn. That's hard. Please forgive me for this one but I am going to have to choose 3: 'My Role Model', 'Dear Dad...' and 'You'. These were posts about three people in my life. Three people who have been my family for 27 years (and 22 for my sister). Yes, I still get the shits with each of them at different times as I'm sure they get with me too. But in the end, they are my family.

2. Most popular post: According to blogger stats, my most popular post is Dream on: Home sweet home. I think that's thanks to the photos and the search terms that lead people to this post. However, in terms of the comments, the most popular post appears to be 'You know you are addicted to blogging...' with over 110 comments [thanks to Indiblogger].

3. Most controversial post: The minute I read this topic, I knew exactly which post to highlight. It was written back in 2009 when all of India was crying foul about racist Aussies. And I couldn't shy away and put forth my differing opinion from Australia. I did get some comments as well about how I was one of those people who changed their views on leaving India and not a patriotic Indian [Regulars know I've not changed...I've always been this way]. So here's my most controversial post till date named 'Racial Row'. 

4. Most helpful post: Hmm, with my passion for psychology and mental health and feminism, I would hope there are a few posts out there that people find helpful. I think if anything, my post 'Perfection' is helpful in that I have spoken about how this obsession with the elusive perfection in all aspects of life is probably what results in mental health problems.


5. A post whose success surprised you: Hmm, well, my most popular post according to Blogger stats is a surprise. But like I said, that's possibly because of the pictures. I am also surprised about the success of some of my creative writing. But I think most of all, I was surprised by the success of 'The Evil One'. I expected to cop a lot of flak for writing something like that. I was sure people wouldn't comment because of the topic. But things turned out differently. 


6. A post you feel didn't get the attention it deserved: I think that would be my post titled 'On being Normal'. I thought it would have a lot more comments in the form of a discussion because of our obsession with normality...but oh well, I probably didn't choose the right time.

7. The post you are most proud of: Once again, I find myself wondering how I can choose just one. I am proud of quite a few posts particularly those about topics I am passionate about. I was very proud of 'Why Harry Potter is not just a kid's book...' as well as 'Dark-skinned girl'. I think in the end, there are 2 posts I am most proud of and they include 'Mirror, mirror...who is the fairest of all?' and 'You asked for it'. 

So there you go. I admit I have probably cheated and have more than 7 links. But I honestly could not help it. After 4 years of blogging, it's hard to choose!!! Now it's my turn to pass this on to at lesat 5 other bloggers. In no particular order, they are:
